Their research is based on the fraud triangle – opportunity, motivation and rationalization – three elements that, when combined, create a tipping point that accurately predicts the likelihood an otherwise good person will turn to fraud. 4. Advantageous Comparison: “This is nothing compared to…”
5. Letting the Victim Take the Fall: “They had it coming.”
6. Euphemistic Labeling: “I am trying to level the playing field.”
